Western State North talents, Modesto libero awarded CCCWVCA State Players of Week #4
Western State North Division outside hitters in Santa Barbara City College's Bayley Padia and LA Mission's Madison "Maddie" Perry along with Modesto Junior College libero Teygan Horstmeier garnered CCCWVCA State Players of the Week #4.
Padia, a 5-foot-10 sophomore from Leigh High in San Jose, totaled 30 kills, 17 digs and five aces in three victories last week. A 6-rotation player, Padia was at her best in a huge sweep over Pasadena City as she scored 11 kills, hit .333 with nine digs and three aces. She is averaging 3.08 kills and 2.2 digs per set this season leading the Vaqueros to an undefeated 8-0 record.
Perry, a 5-10 freshman from Freedom High in Oakley, attacked at a .353 percentage in totaling 38 kills in three LA Mission victories. She scored 12 kills with no errors and hit .521 in a sweep over Cerritos and scored 15 kills during a 4-set triumph over Reedley. Perry is averaging 3.6 kills per set and has helped the Eagles to an undefeated 12-0 record.
Horstmeier, a 5-4 freshman out of Hilmar High, totaled 64 digs, set 15 assists and served 11 aces in four Modesto wins. In a 4-set victory over Reedley, she landed nine aces and defended 16 digs and during a 5-set win v. Lassen, Horstmeier made 21 digs. She is averaging 3.94 digs per set and has helped the Pirates to a sparkling 12-1 record this season.
