South Region on upswing in State Women's Volleyball Top 25 #8
At #6 Santa Barbara City, new #7 Santa Monica, #8 Moorpark and #11 Long Beach City Colleges are all on hot streaks in the South Region to highlight this week's State Women's Volleyball Top 25.
Santa Barbara twice has defeated #10 Los Angeles Mission as it eyes a possible Western State North Division title, now leading the tough division at 8-0 while WSC South leader SMC is on a 10-match win streak.
Moorpark and Long Beach both have come a long way since they were a combined 1-7 at the NorCal v. SoCal Showcase in late August. The Raiders have won five in a row, but are 14-3 in their last 17 matches.
The Vikings have had the biggest turnaround as they are on fire with a 10-match win streak that erased an 0-6 start to the 2025 season. Long Beach leads the South Coast Conference South at 4-0 and have victories over the SCC North leaders in #12 Mt. San Antonio and #15 Pasadena City.
State #1-ranked Feather River earned a big feather in the cap by defeating NCAA Division III UC Santa Cruz in four sets on Saturday.
At #2, San Diego Mesa and still undefeated #4 Orange Coast (19-0) have the state's current longest win streaks at 19 straight while #3 San Joaquin Delta is rolling along in a 14-contest streak.
Taft, the #5 squad, has won 13 in a row and #9 Fresno City has a 9-match win chain.
LA Mission rounds out the top 10 at #10, dropping three slots.
Hartnell joins the Top 25 for the first time at #25. Sacramento City is climbing again, up three spots to #19, while Cosumnes River took an elevator ride four floors to #21.
On Friday, Oct. 24, nine matches across the state were decided in five sets
